Our Supporters Say
We believe that a majority of Canadians understand that we are in a privileged position in the world, and that we need to help others. Part of the challenge, however, is how do we do that effectively. We think that large charities absorb too much of their donations in overhead – but Life4Kids supports those in need with minimal expense. We know that almost all of our contribution supports the boys directly. That is worth supporting. And the communication we receive from the organization is amazing. We feel “in the loop” when we see Jane’s updates and an update on the boy we are sponsoring. We know we are helping!

So glad to be given the chance to make a difference in those beautiful young boys’ lives.

We are a committed sponsor and supporter of Life4Kids because we know we are making a profound lifelong difference in someone’s life, providing both hope and assurance where there had been none. Additionally, we know that our dollars reach where they are needed in Kenya as there is no staff employed in Canada where things are managed strictly by volunteer professionals. When we hear the remarkable stories and see the joyful pictures of the young boys in the regular reports we receive, how could we not feel good about our monthly contribution to their well being!

I LOVE that every dollar sent is spent with care, LOVE, budgeting the priorities of the need, and goes directly to the cause. Not red tape and bureaucracy!

As a mental health professional, I am aware of the impact shortcomings in meeting the social determinants of health can have on developing children. Such things as nutrition, safe housing and community are important and set a trajectory for the whole of life. The Adverse Childhood Experiences Study discovered that deficits in basic needs, along with neglect or abuse leads to a whole host of physical and social consequences, resulting in the likelihood of early death. My monthly giving includes Lif4Kids because I believe the Life4Kids program makes a difference for some of the most vulnerable children in the world. My contribution will never save the world, but it has the hope of changing a life. Sharing in that mission makes a lot of sense to me. We believe that a majority of Canadians understand that we are in a privileged position in the world, and that we need to help others. Part of the challenge, however, is how do we do that effectively. I think that large charities absorb too much of their donations in overhead – but Life4Kids supports those in need with minimal expense. We know that almost all of our contribution supports the boys directly. That is worth supporting.

“My husband and I are so proud to be avid supporters of Life4Kids since its inception. It gives us such joy to know these children, once living in such heartbreaking, unimaginable circumstances, often without family or a safe place to sleep, can now feel the love and camaraderie of a house full of ‘family’. There are just so many success stories, and we love that the intimacy and transparency of this organization allow us to see how our help specifically makes a difference without a huge chunk lost to administration fees. May God continue to bless this life-changing, miracle-working charity.”

Why did we choose to become sponsors? There is a song “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing.” Words and pictures describe. But experience elevates description to a meaningful emotional level. We had some familiarity with Life4Kids. But joining a mission trip to Nairobi Kenya took Ron to a whole new level of understanding both the magnitude of the problem and the profound change that care and love can make. Two things that continue to impact are the sights and smells of the slums and dumps that were the boys’ homes and the hugs and thankyous from the boys who had been rescued.

I support Life4Kids because I can clearly see the benefit to the kids in Nairobi that are helped by this program. This is meaningful to me. I also know some of the people who direct the efforts of Life4Kids, and their example encourages my support.

Our group supports Life4Kids to help those who are less fortunate and in urgent need, by sharing the abundance in wealth of our own blessings. Things that we tend to take for granted in our lives are so lacking for some; basics like love, security, food, health, education and mentoring…. guidance in faith as well as life application of these learnings. Life4Kids provides all of this. To know that we are putting a smile on Jesus’ face and warmth in His heart and this by simply following His teachings is a huge benefit to us. Being a part of something global by helping in our own small way is fruitful and encouraging. Working together we make a big difference in the lives of others, and it is very rewarding to see the positive results. Every child is deserving. We are also amazed and grateful for how the Lord has provided in great times of need for the home.

While in Kenya in 2014, on a tour through the slums of Mombasa, we saw a boy, about 5 years old, coming out of a “hovel” of tin metal and cardboard. He was barefoot and walked toward our bus through a terrible pile of garbage. In that moment I felt sad that we were unable to help him. Last fall the opportunity to sponsor one of the boys from the slums of Nairobi, and to make a difference in his life, was made possible. It is rewarding to be able to do so. This time there is no feeling of sadness.
